This retreat is an invitation to reclaim love and trust through story writing and telling and to cultivate greater understanding, empathy, and intimacy with your spouse amidst the serene beauty of the Kitsap Peninsula. Intimacy deepens when we better comprehend each other’s triggers and how our current conflicts often stem from unresolved wounds from our past. In the process, we grow in greater faith, hope, and love as we realize that our marriage is the instrument that God is using to heal and redeem our stories.
Story Workshops are facilitated by a highly trained group leader. In the words of Dr. Dan Allender, "Our stories shape and influence every dimension of our daily life and relationships. Knowing the impact of our stories and finding God’s redemptive work within them is vital for emotional, relational, and spiritual health. It is an invitation to truth-telling, healing lament, deep soulfulness, and lasting change. Far too often, when the true impact of our stories of wounding and heartache go unaddressed, we find ourselves bound to unhealthy and unfulfilling patterns without hope for change."
In a Story Workshop, you will bring a short written narrative that tells a story of heartache from your formative years in your family of origin. The story of your past relationships is the story that informs your present relationships, for good and for bad. The group facilitator will guide you through the process of writing, telling, and engaging the key stories of your life, molding a place of belonging where God’s heart meets the heart of your story in community with others for the sake of healing and transformation. Telling your story is picking up your cross and following Jesus in his death and grief with the promise and hope that the joy of new life follows.

The cost of the workshop is an investment in your life with exponential dividends. It amounts to $50 per week for a lifetime of difference.
DATES
2/17 - 3/30
The workshop is seven weeks long, meeting for two hours each week. Your story will be engaged twice during the workshop and you will have many opportunities to learn to listen, attune, and engage the stories of others. This will improve your marriage and relationships.
